1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of psychological and consultancy services delivered by LegalPsych Ltd (referred to as “we”, “us”, or “our”). By engaging our services, you (“the client”) agree to comply with the following terms.
2. Confidentiality and Privacy
2.1 Confidentiality
All information disclosed by clients during sessions is treated as strictly confidential and is protected in accordance with professional and legal obligations. Information will not be shared without the client’s explicit written consent.
2.2 Exceptions to Confidentiality
In line with professional standards, we may break confidentiality if:
There is a significant risk of harm to the client or others.
There is a legal requirement to disclose (e.g. court order).
Disclosure is necessary to prevent a serious crime.
Where possible, we will inform clients before any such disclosure is made.
2.3 Data Protection and Privacy Policy
LegalPsych complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our Privacy Policy outlines how personal information is collected, stored, and used. Clients can request a copy of this policy at any time.
3. Professional Conduct and Standards
3.1 Ethical Practice
Our psychologists and affiliated professionals adhere to the Code of Ethics and Conduct set out by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and other relevant governing bodies.
3.2 Competence and Qualification
All practitioners working through LegalPsych are qualified, insured, and appropriately trained for the services they deliver. Ongoing supervision and professional development are maintained.
3.3 Record Keeping
Accurate and secure records are kept in line with legal and ethical standards. These may include session notes, correspondence, and client consent forms. Records are stored securely and retained for the required duration under UK law.
4. Scope of Services
LegalPsych provides psychological support, consultancy, and training services related to legal processes. We do not provide legal advice or represent clients in court.
Any limitations of service will be clearly communicated. Services do not guarantee specific legal outcomes or results from psychological interventions.
5. Payment, Cancellations, and Refunds
5.1 Payment Terms
Payment is due in advance of sessions unless otherwise agreed. Payment methods accepted include bank transfer or secure card payments. VAT may apply.
5.2 Cancellations
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a late cancellation fee of 50%. Missed appointments without notice are charged at full rate.
5.3 Refund Policy
Refunds are not generally issued for completed sessions. Refunds for pre-paid packages or cancelled services will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
5.4 Insurance
Clients wishing to use private insurance should ensure that their policy covers psychological services. Clients are responsible for:
Obtaining pre-authorisation from their insurer.
Settling fees not covered by the policy.
6. Limitation of Liability
While our professionals are highly experienced, LegalPsych does not guarantee specific therapeutic outcomes. We are not liable for decisions made by legal professionals, courts, or third parties based on our reports or assessments.
7. Termination of Services
We reserve the right to terminate services if:
The client poses a risk to themselves or others.
There is a breakdown in the therapeutic relationship.
The service is no longer appropriate or within our scope.
Where possible, referrals to alternative services will be provided.
8. Changes to Terms
LegalPsych may update these Terms and Conditions periodically. Clients will be notified of any material changes via email or through our website. Continued use of our services implies acceptance of the updated terms.
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
